Windows 8 Activation Error: Code 0x8007232b DNS name does not exist

So we’ve been testing out the new Windows 8 RTM recently, and so far I like what I see. We have ran into several issues so far (we’ll get into those later), but here is one that was quite simple to fix. This particular issue is with activation. If you experienced the same issue as us, you probably got the below unfortunate error when trying to activate Windows 8.

Error Code: 0x8007232B

Here is what needs to be done to activate Windows:

  1. Bring your mouse to the very bottom-left corner of your screen. Right-click and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. Command Prompt (Admin)

  3.  At the command prompt, type the following:
  4. slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
    slmgr /ato

    slmgr Commands

You should then get the beautiful “Product Activated Successfully” pop-up!
